Our Nomination For The Next Pope Has A Ghost Of A Chance

A Modest Proposal

If you’ve paid attention to the news or have a religious relative, you probably know that Pope Benedict is stepping down, the first Pope to do so in over 600 years. Obviously, that leaves a large vacancy for the spiritual leader of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics. The new Pope, who will be named by Easter, should probably already have a sizable congregation, and it wouldn’t hurt to try to bring a younger audience to the Vatican. That’s why we’re humbly throwing our support behind Ghost BC frontman Papa Emeritus II.

Granted, we think there are some pretty big differences between Papa Emeritus and the current Pope. In fact, Ghost BC’s blatantly satanic lyrics and occult stage getup pretty much guarantee that they’re not going to go with him. But maybe it’s time that the Vatican relaxes some of their rules a little. And hey, if a Pope that some people considered a Nazi can make it to the highest rank of Catholicism, they should at least consider looking at Papa’s resume. It might have to wait, though, as the band’s  Infestissumam will be coming out on April 9, with a monthlong tour to follow.
