Jon DonaisGuitarist Jon Donais of Shadows Fall has been touring with Anthrax, but according to a tweet by Scott Ian, he may be joining the band’s lineup permanently.

When asked by a fan on Twitter on August 6th if there was any news on a new guitarist, Ian responded with “Jon Donais,” according to Lambgoat. The Tweet has isn’t on Scott’s Twitter anymore. But more recently, in an interview with TeamRock Radio, Ian stated

Jon’s been with us since February, and I think I can safely say he’s passed the audition… I know we haven’t said anything official yet, but in my mind, he’s the guy…. As far as I’m concerned, Jon is the guitar player in Anthrax.

Donais joined the band on tour after Rob Caggiano quit to join Volbeat early this year. While the band seems happy with the addition of Donais, there have been no official statements made by any of the parties involved, regarding his permanent placement. We’ve reached out to Anthrax’s longtime publicist for confirmation of the addition, but messages were not immediately returned prior to publishing this report. Donais also Tweeted that he had officially earned a personalized old-school Anthrax hat, so we are thinking that with this amount of pride, Donais would welcome an offer if Anthrax has put one on the table.
