And The Winners Of The Revolver Golden Gods Awards 2013 Are…

Posted by on May 3, 2013

Tonight, the fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods award show took place in Los Angeles. The night found Anthrax performing with Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown, The Dillinger Escape Plan perform a Depeche Mode cover with Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Halestorm cover Led Zeppelin with David Draiman, Five Finger Death Punch play with Rob Halford and Rob Zombie, Stone Sour joined by Corey Taylor and Jim Root’s Slipknot bandmates for a percussion-heavy Black Sabbath cover, Danzig perform a few Misfits classics with Doyle Von Frankenstein, and a set from some garage band out of San Francisco (who were also joined onstage by Halford).

But the special guest performances weren’t the only surprises from the show, for there were a handful of shocking wins. For instance, who would’ve thought HIM still had a big enough fanbase to win the “Most Dedicated Fans” award? And we knew Halestorm had loyal fans, but loyal enough to help their drummer win the Golden God over Neil Peart? And apparently Black Veil Brides decided to use its acceptance speech for “Song Of The Year” to call out everyone who booed them (calling them “fat assholes” and such). Arguably the big winner of the evening, though, was Deftones who won “Album Of The Year” with Koi No Yokan. Meanwhile, Corey Taylor won “Best Vocalist” and “Best Live Band” with Slipknot, technically making him the only multi-winner of the night.

We’ll be doing a full recap of the night soon, but for now check out who won each Golden God this year below [winners in bold].

Does anyone know the name of the bands song played at the backgroung when the awards were given out ?
The lyric goes like:” Traded in his misery for lonely of the road…. The years were cruel to him”

There are dozens of people looking for this song

  • Blargh

They are nothing compared to 99% of the bands there. Truly, I think Device should’ve won if it’s about the story behind the music. He’s gone through more shit than that whiney bitch of a singer they have for BVB. Andy is a wannabe. He tries to hard to make his band the new Motley Crue, but he’ll never do it. All his songs are just whining about life, while Motley Crue’s had immense meaning.

I laugh at the amount of people saying the entire awards show is lame , based on the fact either their favourite band did not win , or was not nominated. suck it up and go listen to your music. don’t shit on bands because they won an award.

I think Deftone’s winning album of the year is fitting.

Koi No Yokan is a GREAT freaking album, them being in almost every category says it all.

One of the GREATEST BANDS OF ALL TIME!

neil peart should have won. there is no way any of those drummers are even close to his level.
