goldengodsTonight, the sixth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards took place in L.A. While the show is still streaming live online, we now know every band and musician who is taking home a Golden God with them tonight. And let’s just say Slayer’s opening set and Nicolas Cage presenting Axl Rose the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement weren’t the only surprises of the evening.

Black Sabbath took the night’s biggest honor, winning Album Of The Year for 13. However, they were surprisingly beaten out for Comeback Of The Year by another influential rock group, Deep Purple. The big winners of the night were Avenged Sevenfold (winning the Best Guitarists, Best Drummer, Most Dedicated Fans) and Five Finger Death Punch (winning Best Bassist and Song Of The Year). Other surprise wins included Josh Homme for Best Vocalist, Rob Zombie for Best Live Band, Twelve Foot Ninja winning Best New Talent, and Pierce The Veil for Best Film & Video.
