Back in Black, Red and Premium Leather

meta2While there’s no shortage of metal-branded sneakers, two quintessential bands are getting in on the act.

Converse announced today four new Chuck Taylor All Star hi tops featuring the iconic artwork of AC/DC and Metallica. Shoes in this collection will have a suggested retail price of $50 – $80, a bargain for shoes that will fall apart in two weeks (relax, your editor proudly wears Chucks almost exclusively). They will be available nationwide at specialty retailers, department stores and Converse’s site in June.

This is all well and good, but we wonder how long until some silly pundit proclaims sneakers the next “Guitar Hero“, aka savior of the music industry.
