Pickle Gets More Fans Than Nickelback – We Make A Modest Proposal

So like everyone else on Facebook, we’ve been moderately interested in the “Can This Pickle Get More Fans Than Nickelback” Facebook page. It took a little over 2 weeks, but the pickle finally did, passing the popular Canadian travesty’s 1,413,167 fans earlier this afternoon. The page was set up on February 3, and thanks to a nation of people that either really hate safe mainstream radio rock or really love pickled cucumbers, the mighty band has been brought down.

We were  discussing this in the Metal Insider office, and thought that since the pickle has so many fans, it might as well capitalize on it. Since Roadrunner is Nickelback’s label, and fellow Roadrunner band Killswitch Engage is temporarily without frontman Howard Jones, we think the pickle should replace All That Remains’ Phil Labonte for the remainder of the tour. I for one would pay good money to see Dillswitch Engage. Seriously, who doesn’t like Vlasic rock? I mean, what’s the dill-io with Howard Jones anyway? Roadrunner is stating that the tour will continue with Labonte, but it seems like the band has gotten themselves into quite a pickle. They should totally be relishing this tour, but suddenly things aren’t kosher.

In order to accept their award for Best Metal Performance at this year’s Grammys, Judas Priest first had to speak to such press luminaries as Snooki from MTV’s Jersey Shore. Somehow a self-proclaimed “guidette” manages to be the best-dressed person on camera.

everytimeidie300Buffalo’s Every Time I Die are cleaning out the digs and selling their extra junk at a yard sale. Seriously. At a band member’s house. From vocalist Keith Buckley:

Ladies and gentlemen and illegitimate children of all ages…Every Time I Die is having their first and last “sh*t sale” this weekend on August 15th and 16th. Come by and hang with the band, buy their old gear and other miscellaneous items that no longer have any relevance for reduced prices! You got a band that just started that needs cred? Imagine showing up to play your family reunion with a cabinet once spit on by Andy Williams!

So head on down to scenic West Seneca for your chance to get some old ETID gear, road cases, merch, banners and other random knicknacks on August 15th and 16th from 9 AM until “whenever.” The address is 502 Meadow Drive, West Seneca, NY 14224, you stalkers.

So how long until some slick marketing guy tries to steal this idea as a legitimate and replicable promotion?
