At the beginning of this month, we finally discovered why Dave Grohl was recording songs with Corey Taylor and members of Ratt. As it turns out, the Foo Fighters frontman/ former Nirvana drummer has been working on a documentary about the Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA (where many classic albums, like Nirvana’s Nevermind, were recorded). And this past weekend, a trailer and website for the film appeared online.

Though an actual release date for the film and material recorded for it is still unclear, the trailer reveals many more famous musicians that will take part in the documentary. In addition to the names we already knew, we also saw Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor, Heaven & Hell/ex- Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice, and Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme in the 25 second trailer. Whether these musicians also recorded ith Grohl or were just interviewed for the film is still unclear.

More should be revealed soon. In the meantime, though, you can watch the trailer for Grohl’s Sound City documentary after the jump and can check out its official website.
