Metal By Numbers 5/18: Two debuts for a bare bones week

Vektor-Terminal_Redux

Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Compared to last week, the debuts are looking pretty sparse. In fact, the Wikipedia page for the year 2016 in metal only had Vektor listed for its release week. Hell, our own Chris Colgan only managed to scrounge up two other bands in his weekly column. But that’s to be expected when you have many big releases concentrated on one week. So next week will be more exciting. Until then, review the charts and mull over the fact that Metallica’s first five albums are still on the Billboard 200 with their self-titled having sold 4,500 this week.

Notable Debuts:

Vektor, Terminal Redux (Earache) 630 sold

The band’s third album is their first on Earache.

Slaughter to Prevail, Chapters of Misery EP (Sumerian) 540 sold

This is actually a reissue of the band’s debut EP released last year.

Notable Sales:

Rob Zombie, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser (UMe) #22, 9,000 sold

This takes a 78% drop, but it doesn’t go down too far.

Disturbed, Immortalized (Reprise) #27, 7,400 sold

A drop of 11% with over 370,000 sold.

Sixx:A.M., Prayers for the Damned (Eleven Seven) #48, 4,500 sold

A second week drop of 78%, but still in the top 50.

Deftones, Gore (Reprise) #60, 3,625 sold

Not far from the 100,000 mark.

Five Finger Death Punch, Got Your Six (Prospect Park) #72, 3,000 sold

Just under the 350,000 mark in time for festival season.

Tremonti, Dust (Fret12) #104, 2,200 sold

An 85% second week drop.

Babymetal, Metal Resistance (RAL) #118, 2,125 sold

This only had a 1% drop from last week. The tour seems to be helping.

Shinedown, Threat To Survival (Atlantic) #121, 2,000 sold

A drop of 10%.

Ace Frehley, Origins Vol. 1 (eOne) #135, 1,800 sold

A 34% drop with nearly 25,000 sold.

Megadeth, Dystopia (Tradecraft/UMe) #152, 1,600 sold

In case you missed it, Megadeth have a VR music video.

Asking Alexandria, The Black (Sumerian) #162, 1,500 sold

No one asked for a 10% drop.

Amon Amarth, Jomsviking (Metal Blade) #174, 1,375 sold

An 18% drop as the band nears the end of a US tour.

Breaking Benjamin, Dark Before Dawn (Hollywood) #179, 1,350 sold

A slight drop of 3%.

Killswitch Engage, Incarnate (Roadrunner) #183, 1,300 sold

A 14% drop with over 55,000 sold.

Zakk Wylde, Book of Shadows II (eOne) #189, 1,275 sold

A drop of 21% in week five with over 27,000 sold.

Bring Me The Horizon, That’s The Spirit (Columbia) #192, 1,250 sold

Just under 150,000 sold.

Fallujah, Dreamless (Nuclear Blast) 890 sold

A drop of 81% in week two.

Haken, Affinity (InsideOut) 620 sold

A 72% drop, also in week two.

Aborted, Retrogore (Century Media) 560 sold

A 51% drop.

Texas Hippie Coalition, Dark Side of Black (Carved) 480 sold

A 38% drop, ya dirty hippie (that’s still funny to say, right?).

Red Sun Rising, Polyester Zeal (Razor & Tie) 480 sold

40 weeks of small but steady sales brings this to over 15,000 sold.

Cilver, Not the End of the World (eOne) 450 sold

A 53% drop in week two.

Erra, Drift (Sumerian) 320 sold

A 33% drop.

Abnormality, Mechanisms of Omniscience (Metal Blade) 290 sold

A 60% in week two is fairly normal.

Purson, Desire’s Magic Theater (Spinefarm) 250 sold

I doubt this desires a 71% drop.

The Plot In You, Happiness In Self Destruction (Stay Sick) 230 sold

This got boosted up again thanks to a tour with Erra.
