Contests

Tis the season to give, and we’re kicking off the holiday season with one awesome giveaway. Relapse Records has given us a killer CD prize package to give away to one lucky winner. This package includes Revocation’s Chaos of Forms, Black Tusk’s Set The Dial, Zombi’s Escape Velocity, and Fuck the Facts’ Die Miserable.

So how can you win these four awesome albums? Well, Relapse Records is currently celebrating their 21st Anniversary with a pretty amazing sale. All Relapse albums prior to this year are 50% off, and once you buy one, you can pick up an album of the day for only 21 cents. So with that in mind, we want you to tell us in the comment section below your favorite album released by Relapse in the past 21 years. We’ll be choosing one comment as the winner on Friday, December 2. Multiple entries will be disqualified, and the contest is open to U.S. residents only (sorry, rest of world).

And to reiterate, in case your album collection is a little low on Relapse titles, make sure to check out the label’s sale. You can stock up on albums for 1/2 price, and once you buy one, you’re eligible to get the album of the day for the ridiculously low price of 21 cents via their web store every day until December 2 (the same day our contest ends). So enter now for the chance to win this awesome four CD prize pack down below and head over to Relapse Record’s web store to pad out your collection. [BTW, today's 21 cent album is Mastodon's Leviathan, so get on that shit!]

Tough choice… I’m hesitating between Amorphis (Tales…, Elegy), Neurosis (Through Silver…) and Burst (Lazarus Bird).
I’ll go with Amorphis – Tales From The Thousand Lakes, simply for its impact on me as a teenager, buying it when it came out and being hooked on it for months, if not years.

My favorite Relapse release of the past 21 years is Revocation’s Existence Is Futile.  While I have enjoyed the likes of Mastodon, Pig Destroyer, etc. this group of youngsters has shown the world that a 3 piece metal band have be just as heavy, if not more br00tal than most that come onto the scene.  They may have a 4th member on their new album, but it was Existence Is Futile that made me a huge fan.

My favorite Relapse release is without a doubt Merzbow’s “Venereology.”
