Dream Theater is in the midst of their first big tour with new drummer Mike Mangini. The Crimson Projekct, featuring King Crimson songs performed by some members of the band, is opening. In short, if you like progressive or metal in any combination, this tour is a must see.

Metal Insider is offering up a pair of tickets to the Los Angeles show, taking place on Monday, July 2 at the Gibson Amphitheater, courtesy of Live Nation.     Just saw their show in Chicago. Dream Theater is completely incredible, but the Crimson ProjeKct is… lacking, to be polite. It is challenging to identify much of what they play as songs. While each musician is very skilled and impressive, as a performing group they are insufficient. The majority of their performance felt like jamming, but without a consistent tempo and/or key.

    Maybe I just don’t get it. Still worth going to see for Dream Theater though!
