Contests

Last year (in addition to releasing another spectacular Dethklok album), Metalocalypse co-creator Brendon Small unleashed his solo-project, Brendon Small’s Galaktikon. And on March 3, Brendon Small’s Galaktikon will make its live debut by headlining WesFest 8: A Concert to Benefit the Wes Wehmiller Endowed Scholarship at Berklee College Of Music at The Roxy in Los Angeles. And we want to give one lucky fan a pair of tickets to this special benefit show.

We’re giving away a pair of tickets to once-in-a-lifetime special event to one lucky winner. And all you have to do is leave a comment below this article telling us why you deserve to win. We’ll pick one winner randomly and email them by Friday, February 22. Multiple entries will be disqualified, and this contest does NOT include transportation (so it’ll probably help if you’re in the L.A. area).

Even if you don’t win, we urge you to head over to www.weswehmiller.net/wesfest/wesfest-8/ and buy tickets for this event. For one thing, the show will find Brendon Small performing material from the solo-project with an all-star lineup that includes his Dethklok bandmates Mike Keneally and Bryan Beller, Morbid Angel drummer Tim Yeung, former Musicians Institute Guitar Program Director Jude Gold and a crap load of other notable musicians. But most importantly, proceeds from the concert go towards the Wes Wehmiller Endowed Scholarship, a Berklee student scholarship fund established by friends and family of musician Wes Wehmiller (who passed away from thyroid cancer in January 2005).

So leave a comment below and head over to www.weswehmiller.net/wesfest/wesfest-8/ for more information about the show and the Wes Wehmiller Endowed Scholarship.

I’m a big guitar geek. I would love to see how Smalls pulls off his incredible and unique style of playing from only a few feet away!

I’ve never loved an album more than I’ve loved galaktikon. I listened to nothing but Galaktikon for more than 2 months straight, its like goddamn potato chips. I’m a huge Brendon small fan and I think he’s a musical genius, Metalocalypse is one of my favorite shows and Dethklok is one of my favorite bands!

Brendon Small is my guitar hero and a huge inspiration in my playing and writing of music. Dethklok is my favorite band, Galaktikon is my second favorite album (next to Dethalbum III) and Metalocalypse is my favorite show ever!

Brendon is my hero, not just for guitar but for writing as well, I would not be nearly the guitar player I am if I hadn’t found Home Movies and of course later Metalocalypse. I would love the honor of seeing Galaktikon performed live.

As a member of the Baltimore Rock Opera Society, I’d love to help represent insanity and epicness in that audience.

Im a big fan of Brendons work in general but Galaktikon took things to a totally different level, it is my favorite cd, so much about it is unique. It’s the kind of music you can blare out your speakers, then listen to it with headphones and get a totally different experience, the way the instruments mix and the sound that comes almost takes you to another world, another time, makes you feel at peace.

Would love to see this! Galaktikon is my favorite thing Brendon has done. Love it’s melodic components along with the tight riffage. I’m in the midst of writing my own prog metal album and seeing Brendon, Gene, and Bryan live would provide some great inspiration.

Im a huge fan of Brendon Small and his work. I love all his work. Im dying to see him play! I have been wanting too for so long. But never get too. Hes one of my guitar heros. I love all the Dethklok albums and Galaktikon. Galaktikon was AMAZING! I seriously listened to it for like 2 months straight when it came out. To me it was the best album of the year. Bryan Beller and Gene Hoglan did amazing on the album, I think its some of there best work yet. I need to see them! I must! Its one of my dreams! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

I am a huge fan of Brendon and his work. Each album that he puts out is better than the last. After a couple years of waiting for his solo album, it blew my mind when I finally got to hear it for the first time. So much better than I ever could have imagined. Brendon’s music has gotten me through some pretty tough times. It would mean the world to me to get to see Galaktikon performed live for the first time.

The first show I saw the first night on Adult Swim was Home Movies right? I remember that night. I related so much to the hyper emotive, creative power house that Brendon was as a kid..
Also, I live in SLC, but my friend lives in LA, so I’d have a place to stay. I have missed all three Dethklok shows and his signing, literally all because of family deaths (pretty brutal, more annoying. Depressing not as much, now just bitter about Dethklok). I forced Galaktikon down my metal head friends throats, and being ‘metal’ it took them a while to warm up to the dirty metalized-Soundgarden / QOTSA/ Foo sound.. But I got them to open their minds with Brendon’s metal guitar fing-ing.
Finally, the Galaktikon premier is ON MY BIRTHDAY. One of my favorite new CDs, the coolest ‘new’ project since them Crooked Vultures (my musical prime was more than twenty years ago now, fuck)..
Not only is it my Birthday, it’s my 28th so it’ll be the day I realize I’m not cool enough for the 27 club, I’ll need support. ;)
And I need to win that Epiphone Thunderhorse.. My BC Rich won’t cut it anymore, and I’m broke as shit. (like I said, I’m 27 going on 28.)
    Please consider this Lad.
PS. I will enjoy it more than anybody else too. Thanks for your time.
    -Jeremy
