As you may recall, Metalocalypse co-creator Brendon Small revealed this past Summer that he was working on a solo project. Since then, though, we haven’t heard any new updates about the album. However, cover artwork and a Facebook page for Small’s solo project popped up online yesterday. And thanks to that, we now know that the album is called Brendon Small’s Galaktikon.

But at the moment, that’s all we really know about it. So for now, let’s recap what we do know already from last Summer:

-Drummer Gene Hoglan and bassist Bryan Beller (who were a part of Dethklok’s live version) worked with Small on the album.

-It’s a concept album that Small previously described as “a high stakes intergalactic extreme rock album with a lot of heavy metal elements.”

-Thematically, Small also described it as “Flash Gordon meets Metallica kind of thing.”

Those three things alone had us looking forward to hearing what Small could do outside of Dethklok. And now the awesome cover (as seen above) definitely adds to our excitement. We’d say it’s a safe bet to also keep an eye out on Small’s website, as more information will likely pop up there.
