As promised during an interview with Metal Insider, GWAR have covered Billy Ocean’s “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car” and dare we say, the result is not as much of a train wreck as we anticipated.
As you may remember, the masked warriors performed a cover of Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son” last year for The Onion’s A.V. Club series, where artists are forced to choose a song to cover off of a provided list. Unfortunately for the bands who are scheduled later in the series, once a song is crossed off, it can’t be performed again, leaving the worst options for last. However, last year’s cover, which marked the public debut of new guitarist Pustulus Maximus, went on to be voted the favorite cover from last year’s series, hence the band being asked back.
See how GWAR handled the challenge and secretly crept in another cover to redeem themselves in the end, in the video below.
