If only we had known about this before Mother’s Day. Apparently Ryan Adams has been performing an acoustic version of the Danzig classic “Mother” for encores during a few Europeans shows earlier this month. And now audio of him performing “Mother” at La Cigale in Paris, France on May 4 has made its way around the web.

Granted, the alt country singer has previously performed stripped down versions of songs by the likes of Iron MaidenAlice In ChainsDio, and even Ratt. And Adams has always been very vocal about his love for Mr. Danzig, even featuring the singer during his Night Sweats talk show. The two even had the chance to meet in person, or at least long enough for someone to take the picture above (check out the Slayer shirt Adams is wearing). Plus, it’s still not the most random Danzig cover that comes to mind.

Listen to Adams’ acoustic rendition of “Mother” for yourself in the video after the jump.
