While metal artists have been experimenting with electronic music since long before Korn’s 2011 album The Path of Totality, that was definitely the largest scale collaboration between a heavy band and electronic artists. Last year’s Orion Fest had it’s own DJ tent, and somewhat surprisingly, it was packed both days of the fest. And now, website Societe Perrier has put together a pretty comprehensive list of metal bands’ favorite electronic artists. Not super surprisingly, Skrillex pops up on a handful of people’s lists, including Shining and Black Water Rising, and it’s kind of cool to see Justin Broadrick, himself an awesome electronic artist, pick Aphex Twin (as does Dream Theater’s James LaBrie). And who knew Corrections House/Eyehategod’s Mike IX Williams or anyone in Darkthrone (pictures) dug electronic music? You can check out the whole list, which includes picks by members of Helloween, Killswitch Engage, Spiralarms and more here.
