Du Hast To Hear About This

rammstein1We get press releases about bands signing to labels all the time, but rarely do we get one and say “really?” Today was one of those days, as we just found out that Rammstein has signed a marketing and distribution deal with Vagrant. At first thought Vagrant, which is traditionally viewed as as more of a punk rock label, and Rammstein, the German industrial/metal hybrid best known for “Du Hast,” don’t seem like a natural fit. Then again, Vagrant has been diversifying as a label over the past few years, having signed tech-metal gods Protest the Hero and the best bar band in the world in the Hold Steady.

Their sixth studio album, still untitled, will be released later this year. Pre-production for the album was done at Castle Beerenstedt in Germany, while most of the recording was done in 2008 in Northern California. The band hasn’t toured in the United States since 2001, in support of Mutter, their third album.
