Metallica are no strangers to playing the, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” having just played it at the X-Games a few days ago in Austin, TX. Now they’ll give it another go this weekend, kicking off Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

From the official Metallica website:

“We’re incredibly lucky to have another winning team here in the Bay Area as the Golden State Warriors took the NBA Western Conference title and are facing the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals! By now we’re guessing that you’ve noticed that we like to support our home sports teams, so to continue in that tradition James and Kirk will be on hand at Game 5 on Sunday, June 14th. They’ll be performing the National Anthem before the game as the Warriors resume their quest for the title back at home at Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA that night.”

Metallica have played the National Anthem at San Francisco Giants baseball games the past three years, and the San Jose Sharks come out to, “Seek and Destroy,” at every game, so it’s fitting that Metallica did an event with the hockey team earlier this year. Be sure to tune in and watch Metallica open Game 5 of the NBA finals this Sunday at 8pm EST.
