Ever since Faith No More reunited in 2009, fans (us included) have been hoping for two things: more shows and new music. With the exception of a mini U.S. tour in 2010, Faith No More have stuck to playing select shows outside the country. However, a mysterious song the band performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina last November got many people’s hopes up. Was this indeed a new song and could it mean a new album was on the way? Well according singer Mike Patton, the answer to at least the latter part of that question is simple: no.

In an interview with News.com.au, Patton bluntly states that Faith No More have no interest in recording new music, specifically saying:

“We’re pretty happy with just touring. There was talk, ‘Should we write new stuff?’ and we all looked at each other and said ‘Nahhh, fuck it.’ We did work up one new little thing and that was really energizing.”

So there you have it: don’t expect a new Faith No More album any time soon. On the bright side, Patton did somewhat confirm that the mysterious song (apparently titled “Matador”) is indeed new. And that fact that he claims working on that song was “really energizing” could lead to more new material. Then again, maybe this is us simply trying not to lose faith in one day hearing a new Faith No More album.

For now, let’s enjoy the little new material we have from Faith No More by watching professionally filmed footage of them performing “Matador” at the SWU Festival in Brazil after the jump.
