Bamboozle 2011: Officially The Most Bizarre Festival Ever

Posted by on December 17, 2010

The lineup for the two day New Jersey festival Bamboozle seems to get weirder with each year, featuring everyone from Paramore to Hanson, and from Ke$ha to Bullet For My Valentine (and that was just from last year alone). This year’s lineup, though, might be not only the most bizarre lineup in the festival’s history, but also in the history of festivals in general. Case in point: the two main headliners for Bamboozle 2011 are Lil Wayne and Motley Crue. Take a moment to let that settle in….

As if those two bands weren’t enough, the line up also features appearances from Taking Back Sunday, Bruno Mars, Dashboard Confessional, Insane Clown Posse, Attack! Attack!, Carnifex, Boys Likes Girls, Senses Fail, and many many many more. And there are apparently still more acts to be announced. After seeing all of these random names thrown on the same bill, we’re afraid to see who else they’ll book.

A few random thoughts: Motley Crue must not have gotten the memo. They might not even know what the Bamboozle is. But it’s obvious to us that they were booked not because of their relevancy to music, and the fact that they can be a damn solid rock band when they want to be. No, they got booked because they’re a novelty. Vince has no problems embarrassing himself on Skating With the Stars, Tommy Lee was married to Pamela Anderson and bangs lots of chicks. And Nikki Sixx was dating Kat Von D., and bangs lots of chicks. That’s all the average 14 year old knows about them. And might it lead an emo kid down the path of redemption away from interchangable bands with asymmetrical haircuts and towards hard rock and metal? That argument could be made, but not if it’s happening while LMFAO is playing, dude.

And as far as Insane Clown Posse? If you look at the touring announcement, they’re not listed as one of the headliners. That’s ridiculous. Save Lil Wayne and the Crue, they’ve sold way more records than anyone else on the bill. Shit, they’ve probably sold more records and merch than most of those bands combined. That said, we can’t think of a better place than the swamplands in Jersey for Juggalos. We’re both scared and excited to see what will happen during ICP’s set. They caused a riot at their own festival, so what’s going to happen when they’re in the same parking lot as emo kids?! But if you think about it, they’re diluting the festival. Dumpy kids with bad clown makeup will commingle with dumpy kids with “Free Hugs” shirts and neon shirts. They each deserve their own festival. ICP fans get one every year. Emo kids do too – it’s called The Bamboozle.

You can check out the entire list of already confirmed bands after the jump. Bamboozle 2011 will be held on April 29-May 1 at the New Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Three day tickets and are on sale now for $109, and the price will increase as the festival gets closer. VIP tickets are also on sale. Single day tickets will be on sale on January 4.
