Festivals

It’s been less than two months since this year’s Maryland Deathfest was held. Yet now we already know the first sixteen bands confirmed for the eleventh edition of the festival. And even though there are still many other acts left to be confirmed, the fest has already raised the bar pretty high.

Among the first sixteen bands announced for this year’s lineupareCarcass, Venom, a reunited Righteous Pigs, Pentagam, and Pelican. Naturally, hearing that Carcass will be playing the festival (marking their first North American date since 2009) is enough to make one scream “HOLY CRAP!” Add the other confirmed acts, and the fact that there are still many left to be announce, and you have yourself an already stellar lineup.

In addition to announcing the first batch of bands, organizers also let it slip that the Maryland Deathfest will be held in a new venue next year. Since 2006, the festival has been held at the Sonar in Baltimore, MD (despite a few problems in the past). Where exactly this coming year’s edition will be held, though, has yet to be revealed.

As we wait for more bands (and the venue) to be announced, check out the first sixteen acts confirmed after the jump. The Maryland Deathfest XI will be held May 23-26, 2013 in Baltimore, MD.
