Germany’s Rock am Ring Festival evacuated due to terror alert

Posted by on June 2, 2017

Germany’s sold-out Rock am Ring scheduled today (2) through Sunday the 4th was evacuated due to a terror alert. Over 82,000 fans were expected to attend the three-day event and all of Friday’s attendees were rushed out “in a calm and controlled manner.” The police advised interrupting the festival resulting in officially closing the first day of the event. The Organizers hope everything will resume tomorrow.

Rammstein was supposed to headline tonight’s show and looking at the event’s recent updates, it looks like In Flames were one of the last bands to take the stage. Other artists included Five Finger Death Punch and Bastille on the bill for tonight’s schedule. After what happened at the recent Ariana Grande show at the Manchester Arena, we must take caution. It’s sad to see people going to an event for a fun carefree escape to end up feeling terrified for their lives.

The organizers shared the following:

“Due to a terrorist threat the police have advised us to interrupt the festival.
We ask all festival visitors to leave the festival site in a calm and controlled manner towards the exits and camping grounds.

We have to support the police investigations.

All visitors will be kept informed about any developments on all Rock am Ring Social Media channels, radio and the speakers.

We hope that the festival will continue tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation.”

System of a Down, Prophets of Rage, Airbourne, Suicide Silence, Motionless In White, Alter Bridge, Gojira, and several more were on the lineup for this weekend.
