Hoping to travel Germany next summer to catch the Wacken Open Air festival? Well unless you already bought a ticket, then you’re out of luck. That’s because the 2013 edition of Wacken Open Air is already sold out.

That’s right, all 75,000 tickets have been sold to next summer’s German metal festival. This marks the eighth time in a row that Wacken accomplished such a feat. However, what makes this slightly more impressive is that it only took the festival only a little more than a month to do so (marking its fastest sellout ever). And that’s with less than half of its lineup having been announced, with roughly 11 months still to go before the festival even takes place!

So what led to Wacken Open Air selling out so fast? While its reputation as one of the premiere metal festivals in the world surely played a role, we’d bet that its newly announced headliner Rammstein helped out as well. Add on bands like Deep Purple, Anthrax, Nightwish, Ihsahn, Arch Enemy, Doro, Candlemass and others, and you’ve got a lineup fans would make an effort not to miss.

Not like it helps anyone without tickets now, but the Wacken Open Air festival will take place August 1-3, 2013 in Wacken, Germany. In case you want to make yourself more envious, you can check out a rundown of Wacken’s lineup so far after the jump.
