October 7th was the last date of Scorpions’ tour with Megadeth, although the show was supposed to have continued for another week. Singer Klaus Meine was suffering from laryngitis, and the singer was told to rest immediately. However, now the opener is suffering from a medical condition, as Dave Mustaine tweeted that he’s been suffering from Lyme Disease. Mustaine, who’s refreshingly active on Twitter, responded to a fan who asked what he’s up to now that the tour’s come to an end. He responded:

When another fan asked him to make sure that it wasn’t Lyme Disease, Mustaine responded “that’s what it is.” Hopefully he’s been receiving treatment since it started, but it wouldn’t hurt for him to continue resting up. Here’s how the Center for Disease Control describes Lyme Disease:

“Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system. Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms, physical findings (e.g., rash), and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks.  Laboratory testing is helpful if used correctly and performed with validated methods. Most cases of Lyme disease can be treated successfully with a few weeks of antibiotics.”

He responded to a concerned fan with “I’m ok, don’t worry,” so hopefully he’s on the mend. Best wishes to Dave
