Diverticulitis. Until now, we thought it was an uncontrollable urge to listen to Dio’s Holy Diver. It turns out that it’s a condition in which bulging sacs are found in the large intestine, causing abdominal pain. It’s also something that Eddie Van Halen needed emergency surgery for, along with four to six months of recovery. That means that the band’s November dates in Japan will now be pushed back to 2013.

As many stateside Van Halen fans know, this isn’t the first time the band has postponed dates. And a little more than a month later, the band wound up canceling those dates. What do you think the odds are that VH actually make it over to Japan next year? It’s a shame that the band can’t figure their shit out, since A Different Kind of Truth is one of the best albums the band’s put out in years. Regardless, best wishes for a speedy recovery for Eddie, especially since we thought that the pain in his ass was David Lee Roth.
