In Memoriam

“Big” Steeve Hurdle, former guitarist of bands like Gorguts and Negativa, has reportedly passed away. While an official announcement from Gorguts or Hurdle’s family has yet to be released, the Cooperative Funeraire de L’Estrie in Quebec claims that Hurdle died from post-surgical complications on May 20. Hurdle was 41 years old.

Hurdle joined Gorguts in 1998, but shortly left after appearing on Obscura. The Montreal musician also formed the avant-garde tech metal group Negativa in 1994. After only one release (2006’s self-titled EP), Negativa disbanded in 2010. Hopefully more will be revealed regarding Hurdle’s death. In the meantime, fans can leave messages on Hurdle’s Facebook page.
