In Memoriam

While details are still scarce at this time, it appears that Suicide Silence vocalist Mitch Lucker died earlier today in a motorcyle accident. The singer apparently suffered an accident in Huntington Beach, CA shortly before 9pm Wednesday (31), according to The Riverside Press Enterprise. The Orange County coroner’s office pronounced him dead at 6:17 Thursday morning at UCI Medical Center in Orange County. He was 28 and leaves behind a wife and daughter. Ironically, his last post on Instagram, just 16 hours ago, was a picture of him in costume as a day of the dead skeleton with the caption “the dead are living.”

It’s especially sad to hear of Lucker’s death given the upward trajectory the band was on. Last year’s The Black Crown found the band finding fans outside of the deathcore scene that spawned them. The band recently signed a record deal with Nuclear Blast after three successful albums with Century Media. The band had won two Golden Gods Awards, for most innovative band and best new band. The band had been slated to perform at the California Metalfest VI on November 24th, as well as tour with Asking Alexadria, As I Lay Dying, Memphis May Fire and Attila this winter.
