As I Lay Dying Tap Descendents/Ex-Black Flag Drummer To Produce New Album

In The Studio

As I Lay Dying are about to head into the studio to start work on their follow up to 2010’s The Powerless Rise. And earlier today, the San Diego metalcore group announced that Bill Stevenson will be producing the new as yet titled album.

This is a rather interesting choice for As I Lay Dying. While Stevenson may best be known for drumming in punk bands like Descendents and Black Flag, he’s also become a highly renowned producer. However, most of his production credits pertain to rock or punk bands like Rise Against, NOFX, The Casualties, Anti-Flag and others. Plus, this will mark the first time As I Lay Dying haven’t worked with Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage since 2007’s An Ocean Between Us.

How will As I Lay Dying’s album turn out with Stevenson behind the soundboard? We’re sure it’ll come out just fine, but we’ll know for sure when the album comes out later this year. Although, we also wouldn’t be surprised to hear As I Lay Dying play some new material during their Mayhem Fest set this Summer.
