Though Chino Moreno was in Argentina with his new side project ††† (Crosses) earlier this week, the frontman shared some great news for Deftones’ fans. During an interview Buenos Aires, Argentina radio station Vorterix Rock 103.1, Moreno revealed that the Deftones would be entering the studio as soon as next week with the hope of releasing a new album this coming September/ October.

You can watch the entire interview in the video above, but here’s some of what Moreno had to say when asked about the new Deftones album (around the 3:35 mark):

“We start recording next week… Right before I came last week, we finished all the writing. So next week, when I get back, we start recording and we should have a record that comes out… October, maybe September.”

It’s been almost two years since the Deftones’ released their last album Diamond Eyes. So chances are we’re not the only ones excited to hear that a new album will be coming out as soon as September. Hopefully more will be revealed as the Deftones make progress in the studio.
