2016 was a reflective year for the queen of rock Lita Ford, with the release of her memoir Living Like a Runaway: A Memoir and the previously unreleased archived collection Time Capsule. As far as full-length material is concerned, it hasn’t been since 2012’s Living Like a Runaway. Ford confirmed that she is starting to work on a new studio album, aiming to release later this year.

Ford was interviewed by VintageRock.com during her visit at this past weekend’s NAMM show in Anaheim, California. They asked about her new music and Ford hinted in the following details:

“It’s dark, it’s riffy, lots of guitar. I’m gonna really let the guitar flow on this one. So that’s exciting.”

Ford discussed taking a break from touring a bit this year, to spend her energy focusing on the new album.

Maybe her new album will be a mix between the old and new.
