In a recent interview with Artisan News Service, Rita Haney (longtime girlfriend of the late Dimebag Darrell) explained that ex-Pantera singer Phil Anselmo was indeed suppose to partake in last month’s Dimebash 2010, but came down with pneumonia and had to drop out. In addition to explaining how the two reconnected, she also explains how she has come to peace with Anselmo.

When discussing if she still holds resentment towards Anselmo, who she in the past  blamed for Dimebag’s death, she stated the following:

“There’s things, of course, I’m still angry at him about, but that was things with the band, you know — things that I know hurt Darrell and I had to be there to watch it; I resent him for those things. But there’s a side of me that loves all of them as well, too. [Philip's] not to blame for what happened to Darrell, and I know that. It just takes time to heal. But I miss everybody and I don’t wanna carry that burden around, you know?!”

While she may not hold a burden anymore, she claims that Vinnie Paul (Pantera drummer and brother of Dimebag) still very much does. She even jokes that he may stop talking to her after Paul sees the interview. You can’t blame Paul for holding resentment, but it’s nice to see Haney making efforts to let wounds heal. It gives further hope that maybe Paul and Anselmo can one day be able to be in the same room together and re-bond. You can watch the entire interview with Haney above.
