Marilyn Manson Signs New Record Deal With Cooking Vinyl Records

After parting ways with Interscope Records, Marilyn Manson has signed a new recording deal with Cooking Vinyl Records. The global deal will see Manson releasing his new album (expected to be out in 2011) via his own imprint-Hell, etc.- in a joint venture with Cooking Vinyl. In other words, Cooking Vinyl will be distributing and marketing the album while Manson will have total creative control.

Manson had the following to say:

“We will always be our worst audience, until we stop being an audience and start being an artist. Any art is flesh and blood, no matter how you perform, decorate or display it. But we all want the passionate horror of that blood. And blood is what I am here to bring.”

Cooking Vinyl founder Martin Goldschmidt added the following:

“We’re delighted to welcome Marilyn Manson to Cooking Vinyl. Often our ‘relaxed’ approach to A&R brings out killer performances and albums from artists. I can’t wait to hear what Manson comes up with. This is a landmark signing for us. We shook up folk music in the late 80′s/90′s with Michelle Shocked, Cowboy Junkies and Billy Bragg, we have shaken up dance in the last couple of years with The Prodigy, Groove Armada and Underworld, and we are ready for a new adventure with Mr. Manson.”

It’s hard to argue that Manson’s last two releases with Interscope received less than positive receptions (both from critics and in sales). Maybe a new label home/distributor will be enough to rejuvenate the once king of shock.
