Meet The Real Bassist

As if playing Rust In Peace in its entirety on their upcoming tour isn’t enough to get the old school fans back in Megadeth’s camp, bassist David Ellefson has returned to the fold! Yeah, that David Ellefson, the one the was in the band from 1983-2002. Ellefson was in the band for Rust In Peace, and joins guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover.

“This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness,” Mustaine says.  “David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked…HARD!”

David Ellefson concurs: “This is a huge moment for all of us, band and fans alike. It is a great celebration of the music from one of the biggest landmark albums of our career.”

Mustaine also gave thanks to James LoMenzo “for several years of loyal service on the bass,” wishing him the best. In addition to playing on Endgame and 2007′s United Abominations, Lomenzo was the bassist of White Lion and has logged time in Black Label Society.

I mean, seriously, what more could any Megadeth fan ask for? And no, Marty Friedman isn’t coming back.

Wait, am I trippin’ or doesn’t Mustaine hate Ellefson? Where’d the hell did this come from?

  2. Dissolution Says:

Hate? Eh…thats a strong word. They have 20 years of history…good and bad. I could easily see this happening. Sit down, have a beer…they both know its for the best anyway. He’s a sick bassist. They complement each other.

  3. Matt Says:

Not saying I don’t think it’s awesome (I’ve always dug Ellefson), but I’ve read some pretty venomous statements from Mustaine regarding Junior. They must have kissed and made up. WWJD.
