Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin berates drummer, walks offstage

If you’re ponying up to see Puddle of Mudd play these days, either you really love the early 2000s or you don’t really read websites all that much. For the past few years, the band’s remained in the headlines, but less for their workmanlike grunge that rips off Suicidal Tendencies and Duncan Sheik and more for the antics of increasingly unhinged frontman Wes Scantlin. The guy’s been involved in an armed standoff, accused a guy of stealing his house, and has walked off stage in the past before.

So it should come as no surprise that once again, Scantlin lost his shit and walked off stage again. This time in Dallas a few weeks ago, during the aforementioned Suicidal Tendencies ripoff song, he walked over to the drummer, said something unintelligible to him, and walked offstage during the fourth song. The band hasn’t played any shows since then, and the rest of his band looks like they’ve been through this before, but once can only wonder how long they’re going to continue to put up with it. In the meantime, hopefully Scantlin is getting the help he obviously needs. Maybe he can talk to Scott Stapp.
