Drummer Josh Freese To Sit Out Of A Perfect Circle’s Upcoming Tour

This might be a bit of a downer for fans excited to see A Perfect Circle on the road this Summer. It’s been confirmed that drummer Josh Freese will not be touring with the recently reunited supergroup this Summer due to his commitments with Weezer. Drummer Jeff Friedl (Ashes Divide, Devo) will be filling in for the band on the tour. Howerdel and Friedl played together in Ashes Divide.

It seems out of place for Freese’s previous commitments to prevent him from touring with APC since the tour was announced back in March. Maybe they were hoping that Freese could move things around to allow him to do both? Or maybe Weezer purchased the $75,000 package of Freese’s new album.

Well, it turns out that it’s simply a matter of bad timing. Fans need to fear not, for in addition to revealing that he was missing APC shows, Freese also confirmed that he is still in the band via Twitter, saying:

“I’m not stopping playing with them though. All is well. We had a great gig last night. Unfortunate timing. I’ll continue 2 be in the band.”

Freese is expected to release a statement about missing APC’s Summer tour on his website. We’ll keep you posted when more develops.
