Ex-Unearth Drummer To Play With Kingdom Of Sorrow This Summer

Looks like drummer Derek Kerswill has been keeping himself busy since parting ways with Unearth this past Fall. In addition to touring behind T A N G E N T S, he recently formed a new group with both of Shadows Fall’s guitarists called Dead Of Night. And now Kerswill has confirmed his Summer plans: touring with Kingdom Of Sorrow. Kerswill will be playing behind the kit for the sludge metal supergroup during their entire run on this year’s Mayhem Fest in addition to off dates with In Flames, Trivium, and Straight Line Stitch.

This actually marks somewhat of a reunion for the group founded by Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta and Crowbar mainman Kirk Windstein. Kerswill recorded drums for the band’s debut self-titled album, though did not appear on 2010’s Behind The Blackest Tears. His upcoming stint will also see Kerswill sharing the stage with Unearth. However, seeing that Unearth brought in Kerswill to play drums for a one off show in tribute to former bassist Chris “Rover” Rybicki last month, it’s safe to say that there’s no bad blood between the two.
