11350065_10153453530503156_2137176192_nLet it be known that the second week of June 2015 is the week with the most band splits in probably forever. To list, once again, all the bands who have graced the headlines with their member changes, we have: Morbid Angel probably firing their frontman, David Vincent; Revocation losing their drummer; Dyscarnate parting ways with their bassist; Tim Yeung quitting Morbid Angel; Soilwork replacing their bassist; Primal Fear going separate ways with drummer; and Morbid Angel splitting with guitarist Desctructhor. Wait, what?

Morbid Angel is definitely the most affected one this week and with the strangest drama, considering there doesn’t seem to be an agreement whether David Vincent is still a member of the band or not and former (possibly current) singer Steve Tucker stating that he is now fronting the death metal band and laughing at the idea of Vincent being part of it and now the plot thickened after Norwegian guitarist Destructhor (a.k.a Thor Anders Myhren), who has been playing with Morbid Angel since 2008, announced his departure from the band:

I would like to announce that I, Destructhor, as well am out of MORBID ANGEL. Due to issues of them wanting to work with someone more local. Actually pretty good news to me, since I personally decided to leave MORBID ANGEL after the last tour we did in Europe in November/December 2014. It is definitely time for me to move on with the Norwegian extreme act MYRKSKOG. This is where I truly belong and exciting things are happening! A new record is being released next year with coming tours, festivals and so on. So it’s time to step it up and prepare for war with my Norwegian/Swedish brothers in MYRKSKOG.

As for MORBID ANGEL, I wish them all the best with everything! It’s been a lot of great experiences! No hard feelings at all and may the future bring us all to another dimension!

There is no official word from the Morbid Angel camp yet but all this just leaves us wondering, what the hell is going on here?! This whole debacle creates an uncertainty about the future of the band but something I can assure is that Trey Azagthoth won’t let the band go anywhere anytime soon. We will definitely find out in the near future because this is going to be a long ride so buckle up, keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times and enjoy the trip.
