Last night (February 8), Charlie Benante and Frank Bello rejoined Anthrax onstage at the Best Buy Theater in New York City. The show marked the first time they’ve been onstage since the passing of Benante’s mother (and Bello’s grandmother). However, it would appear Benante, rightfully so, will be taking a little more time off from the road.

While Gene Hoglan helped Anthrax out recently, drummer Jason Bittner of Shadows Fall has revealed that he’ll be playing with the band this weekend in Argentina. Fans will likely remember that this isn’t the first time Bittner came to Anthrax’s rescue. Back in 2006, the Shadows Fall drummer filled in on drums for two shows while Benante attended to the birth of his first child. Bittner joined Anthrax onstage again in Clifton Park, NY last November for a surprise appearance.

It’s cool that Bittner will have another chance to perform with Anthrax. However, we’re more pleased to hear that Benante will have the opportunity to spend more time at home following such a personal loss. You can watch footage of Bittner performing “Skeletons In The Closet” with Anthrax back in 2006 above. In case you just so happen to be in Argentina this weekend, you can check out the exact dates and venues for Anthrax’s shows after the jump.
