Beastmilk share unreleased track

Posted by on October 8, 2014

One of our favorite albums of last year was Beastmilk’s debut full-length, Climax. While it fits more into the loud post-punk landscape than it does metal, it was loud, aggressive, and split the difference between Christian Death and Joy Division. Yet the stellar production from Converge’s Kurt Ballou and frontman Kvohst’s black metal past was enough for the band to slide into my top ten of the year. That’s why we’re psyched that the band have released a b-side from the album via their Bandcamp page. “Fragile Grip” was left off the album for a reason – the band didn’t think it was strong enough. And while it’s not quite as good as the rest of the concise Climax, it’s still a solid tune that maintains the Helsinki band’s signature Bauhaus-like sound. Here’s what they said about it:

This is an out-take, unreleased track from the Climax recording sessions. We felt that this particular song was not strong enough to make the cut for the album. Still it stands as a point of interest to those who enjoyed the sound and songs from our debut. This is for you, thank you for your support!
Recorded at Godcity studios, produced by Kurt Ballou. Rough master by Goatspeed.
