Metal on Metal, New Music

Norwegian progressive metal band Tellus Requiem first gained attention via their debut album, which they self-released digitally in 2010. Now signed to Nightmare Records, the band up the ante on their sophomore album, Invictus [The 11th Hour]. The band describe their influences as “Symphony X, Opeth, Megadeth, film scores and classical contemporary music,” going so far as to say that their music sounds like a baby between Symphony X and classic composer Richard Wagner.

“Red Horizon” is a great introduction to the band. It’s heavy, melodic, progressive, and orchestral. It’ll definitely start your week off on a progressive/power metal note. Invictus [The 11th Hour] is out next Tuesday (22). If you like what you hear, you can pre-order the album here.
