As the leader of Louisville punk band Coliseum, Ryan Patterson led the band through five albums, with their most recent being 2015’s Anxiety’s Kiss. That album found them reaching more towards a goth, post-punk direction. And while there was no official statement from the band until now, they went on an indefinite hiatus at the end of that year. Now frontman Ryan Patterson has announced a new band, Fotocrime. 

Patterson’s new project doubles down on the goth/post-punk sound, and “Always Hell,” t he first song from the three-track EP of the same name, is a stylistic departure from Coliseum, more along the lines of Joy Division or Sisters of Mercy. Now known as R. Pattern, Patterson worked on the three songs with producer J. Robbins (which, if you think about it, could be where he got the name abbreviation thing from). Fotocrime will be making their first live performances later this month:
