Shortly after releasing Deconstruction and Ghost this past Summer, Hevy Devy confirmed that he was already starting work on not one but TWO new albums including Epicloud and Ghost 2. On top of that, he’s still performing all over the world under the Devin Townsend Project moniker in support of his most recent releases (including one gigantic show in London this coming October). So you’d think he has enough on his plate for the foreseeable future, right? Well either he’s not busy enough or he’s simply trying to earn the “hardest working dude in metal” title, as Townsend revealed he’s starting work on the sequel to his concept solo album Ziltoid The Omniscient.

In a posting via Twitter, Townsend revealed the following:

“Just finished writing track one for Z2! (Ziltoid 2) It’s about a year and half away now… scary! :)

For those unfamiliar with the concept album, Ziltoid The Omniscient follows the story of an alien named Ziltoid from the planet Ziltoidia 9 and his quest for the ultimate cup of coffee. Upon receiving a disgusting cup of coffee on the planet earth, Ziltoidian warlords to attack the earth. A puppet version of Ziltoid has made cameos in Townsend’s live shows and in numerous videos like the one for “Juular.” Townsend even made a hand puppet of Ziltoid available for purchase. Plus, Townsend revealed in an interview with Metal Sucks last year that he’s working on a webisode series with the character called ZTV.

It’s unclear what the purpose of Ziltoid’s quest in the sequel will be. And though we’ll have to wait for at least another year and a half to hear it, the sequel is likely to be awesome (as is most of what Townsend releases).
