Ihsahn announces new solo album

Ihsahn-Das-SeelenbrechenEmperor frontman Ihsahn will release a fifth solo album October 22 in North America on Candlelight Records. The  Norwegian vocalist and mullti-instrumentalist unleashes Das Seelenbrechen, a follow-up to his 2012 album Eremita and 2010’s After. But the album claims to offer a contrast to the his previous efforts by being more disorienting and disturbing than what we’ve heard in the past.

Ihsahn and Emperor went their separate ways after the release of their 2001 album Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire & Demise but then reunited in 2007 for a slew of reunion shows.  Earlier this summer, Ihsahn teamed up with Serj Tankian (System of a Down) and Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad) to release the single ‘We Are.” He also announced at a press conference with fellow Emperor bandmate Samoth at this year’s Wacken Open Air Festival that the black metal group would be reuniting for a performance at next year’s fest July 31-August 2. The two also confirmed that Emperor would be performing other shows together, without mention of specific dates.
