Gojira’s new EP, the proceeds of which will be given to the Sea Shepherd anti-whaling organization, has been in the works for a while now. So long in fact that we almost questioned whether it was ever going to come out. Well, the EP is still indeed alive. Though we still don’t know when it will exactly be released, we now have our first taste of the album.

A new song from the as-yet-untitled EP called “Of Blood And Salt” appears on a new sampler CD that comes with this week’s issue of the U.K.’s Metal Hammer Magazine. As if that isn’t enough to make fans giddy with joy, the song also features none other than Devin Townsend and Meshuggah guitarist Fredrik Thordendal. We’ll give you a moment to smoke a cigarette and clean your pants. But don’t get rid of that box of tissues yet, because you don’t have to pick up a copy of the magazine to hear the song. That’s right, “Of Blood And Salt” has already hit the web and can be heard up top.

Supposedly, the entire EP is filled with a bunch of guests. So if Gojira were able to get Townsend and Thordendal for one track, imagine what other guess appearances they were able to get! But in case you need to hear these three elite metal musicians, you should make sure to pick up Devin Townsend’s Deconstruction (one of two albums he’s releasing on June 21 via InsideOut). Thordendal is featured on the title track (along with GWAR’s Oderus Urungus), while Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier appears on the song “Sumeria.”

We’ll keep you posted if more is revealed about Gojira’s new EP. We were already excited about it, but after hearing “Of Blood And Salt,” we can’t wait!
