If nothing else, 2012 might have been the year that a lot of people were introduced to Torche. Granted, the band’s been around for a while now, but a new label (Volcom), and tours with bands including Corrosion of Conformity, Converge and Kvelerak might have given them more exposure to a metal crowd. Their appearance on the Orion Festival likely helped as well, not to mention their inclusion on many a year-end list (including mine).

As good as Harmonicraft was, Torche isn’t resting on their laurels. They’ve already recorded a 7″ single with two new tracks. “Harmonslaught” is the title track, and it’s a little slower and sludgier than most of the songs on this year’s album. And perhaps as a follow-up to this year’s “Kiss Me Dudely,” the other song on the single is called “Rock and Roll Mantasy.” “Harmonslaught” is streaming below, and the single will be available on 12/17.
