It’s been a few years since we’ve heard from sludge/doom supergroup Old Man Gloom. The band have a new album, The Ape of God. coming out in November, and they revealed the album’s first single, “The Lash,” today. It sounds exactly what you would expect a band featuring members of Isis, Converge, Cave-In and Zozobra, which is to say that it’s ambient (for the first 30 seconds), then anchored by a bass-heavy riff and brutal as hell for the rest of it. Needless to say, it kicks ass. We just listened to it twice in a row, and are going to keep listening until someone in the office complains.The band’s seventh album, and Profound Lore debut, The Ape of God, will be out on November 11th
