Song premiere: Listen to the first new God Macabre in 20 years!

god macabreIt’s been over 20 years since Sweden’s God Macabre released their only full length, 1993’s The Winterlong. The album was actually released one year after the band, considered to one of the first death metal bands in their country, split up. Thankfully, back in 2002, Relapse Records rereleased The Winterlong, bringing it to a new generation of fans that might not have heard it before as well as collectors that had a chance to purchase the out-of-print album. The continued and renewed interest in the band might have been what inspired them to reunite, and this past weekend found them playing the Maryland Deathfest, their first show ever in North America.

Once again, Relapse is reissuing The Winterlong, like last time, the reissue comes with Consumed by Darkness, an EP from the God Macabre precursor Macabre End. However, it comes with “Life’s Verge,” the first new music from the band in over 20 years! If you’re a fan of Autopsy, Entombed, or Paradise Lost, you’ll like this a lot, but if you’ve been hoping to hear more music from God Macabre for the last 21 years or so, this one’s for you. Metal Insider is proud to give you “Life’s Verge” for the first time.

The Winterlong will be out in America on Relapse on June 10th. You can preorder the album here from them and pick up the amazing looking vinyl. You can also grab it online or via the band’s Bandcamp, and you can find out more about what the newly-reformed band is up to via their Facebook page.
