On October 23, Stone Sour will release part one of House of Gold and Bones (with part two supposedly coming on May 23). And while the cover artwork was revealed this past weekend (not to mention the acoustic version of “Taciturn” that Corey Taylor played earlier this summer), we now can say we’ve heard not one, but TWO new songs.

Stone Sour premiered the tracks “Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero” on both RollingStone.com and their own website. Rolling Stone also spoke at great length to Taylor about the making of House of Gold and Bones. “Each song tells a different part of the story, but it’s so unique unto itself. That was one of the things we really wanted to go for; we didn’t want to do a batch of tunes that all sound alike. We wanted to make sure each song had its own soul, basically,” explained the Stone Sour (and Slipknot) frontman. Taylor also revealed that the band plans to release a four-issue comic book miniseries to coincide with the albums.

In short, the two tracks are pretty heavy (at least in Stone Sour terms) and damn catchy. So head over to either RollingStone.com and the band’s website to listen to “Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero” now.
