Last Thursday night (February 16), Shadows Fall kicked off their mini-Northeast tour at the Montage Music Hall in Rochester, NY. And as we predicted, the band tested out some new material during the first warm up show.

Fan filmed footage of Shadows Fall performing a new song called “The Fire From The Sky” can be seen above. The clip made its way around the web just as rumors about the band’s new album (and first via Razor & Tie) started to leak. Thanks to a comment made by drummer Jason Bittner on his YouTube account, it had been reported this past weekend that the new album would be called The Fire From The Sky and would be released on May 8. Singer Brian Fair, though, shot down those reports with the following two tweets:

“BTW in reference to site’s that announced@ShadowsFallBand album title and release date. Date is def wrong and that may or may not be title.

People jumping the gun before anything is official. We will be announcing all this info once it is confirmed.”

We may not know the title or release date for Shadows Fall’s new album (yet), but at least we have our first taste of new material. And though the audio and video quality isn’t the best, the new song itself still sounds pretty awesome and will definitely please Shadows Fall fans. Give “The Fire From The Sky” a listen in the fan filmed video above.
