When we last heard from Black Flag (not Flag) their graphic designer had been kicked out of the band. That’s completely understandable, given what the art for What The… looked like. However, he was also the band’s singer, Ron Reyes. Back in November after exiting the band, Reyes posted a Facebook update stating that pro skater Mike Vallely kicked him offstage in the middle of a set in Australia. “I would not be surprised if Mike V becomes the new singer for Black Flag,” he stated at the time. Well, it turns out that’s the case, as has just been stated via Rolling Stone.

Vallely gave what is apparently the only interview on the status of the band, speaking on behalf of Ginn. “It could have been better,” the band’s new vocalist stated about his band’s 2013 reunion. After being in the band for a short period in 1980, Reyes had rejoined last year. Obviously, it wasn’t a very long tenure the second time around. Vallely, who also manages the band, said that he ousted the singer onstage because he thought that Reyes might quit onstage himself. “I did not threaten him or physically remove him from the stage,” Vallely tells Rolling Stone. “I just told him very plainly, very simply, that it was over. And he looked at me and he almost seemed relieved. Then he walked off the stage.”

It seems like they’re looking to erase the memory of What The… pretty quickly. Vallely says that they’ve already begun recording new music, and are in the process of planning an “extensive” tour that will start in May.
