Sharon Osbourne, for better or worse, is one of the most outspoken managers in the music industry. As Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and manager, she lets her opinion be heard bluntly, giving zero fucks about political correctness or hurt feelings. So if no less than Sharon Osbourne is telling Lars Ulrich that he has a big mouth, that statement’s really got to carry some weight. Appearing on SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard channel for an “Ultimate Guitar Gods” countdown, Osbourne spoke about Metallica before playing “Battery” on the countdown. :

I feel like we’re their parents. We’ve known them from when they were so young, and seeing them all grow up, have their own families… And since Robert [Trujillo, former OZZY OSBOURNE and current METALLICA bassist], who is, like… he is part of the Osbourne family. [Since] Robert Trujillo joined them, we’re even more connected with them. It’s family. You know, they are family. And [we have] so much respect for METALLICA. And [I] just personally love each and every one of ’em.”

She added: “[METALLICA drummer] Lars [Ulrich] is a bit of a bigmouth — he needs a good slap sometimes — but we love him.”

Granted, Osbourne said that about Ulrich as more of a term of affection than annoyment. Lars isn’t even that controversial, really. He does tend to be pretty chatty, but more in a hyper-caffeinated/coked-up kind of way (we’re not calling Lars a cokehead, btw) than a ‘saying things he maybe shouldn’t’ kind of way. That’d be more of a Sharon Osbourne kinda thing.
